River: Howlers MC Page 3

She hummed and snuggled into him.

  6

River walked into his cabin and looked around. How would it look to this woman who had decided to stay with him? He saw the simple log walls as warm, but he figured she’d call them rustic. His furniture was for comfort, not style and had seen a few too many late nights with the boys, but it was clean and it worked.

He turned to her when he heard her breath catch.

  “It’s so lovely.” she whispered.

The look on her face told him she was telling the truth.

“It’s home. You can stay as long as you like. You will be safe here.”

Her face was so open. She didn’t play the tricks women usually played. She let him see her and he wondered how she would look when he buried himself inside of her.

“Fuck.” He swore and looked away. He had no business playing with her. She had been through hell and the last thing she needed was him sniffing around for sex.

“Is everything alright?” She asked, confused.

“Yeah, fine. Are you hungry? There should be food in the kitchen, I can throw something together.”

He wasn’t much of a cook, but he could feed her, needed to feed her.

“I think I could eat.” She smiled and River lost a chunk of his heart.

He led her to the kitchen and lifted her to the counter, but when he started to step away she hooked her feet around his legs. He looked at her in question and caught a blush on her cheeks. He stepped into her and lifted her chin.

  “Tell me.”

She swallowed hard and let go of him. “I’m sorry...I thought…”

He stayed where he was and leaned closer. “Tell me.”

Her eyes were pools of green, deep and endless when she looked up at him. “It isn’t right for me to ask you. You have already done so much.”

He rubbed his nose against hers. He could smell her heat, want. He knew what she needed, but he wanted her to say it. He wanted her to be sure.

  “Ask me what?”

“Help me forget.” She whispered and wrapped her arms around his neck.

River was on fire, burning alive and she only fanned the flames when she pressed her lips to his. She was a stranger, but that had never mattered to River. He had fucked hundreds of strangers, but something about this woman made a difference. She felt big. If he fucked her, he would be different for it and he didn’t give a shit.

“Here of the bedroom.” He asked when he broke from their kiss to tug her shirt over her head.

“I don’t care.” She panted and tore his shirt over his head.

He couldn’t focus. Her breasts spilled out of her simple white bra. They were magnificent. Not like the fake tits that were shoved in his face almost every day, but real and perfect. He filled his hands with them and kissed the arch of her neck when her head fell back. He found the clasp to her bra and it joined their shirts on the floor.

Her hands fumbled with his belt and before he could take a breath she held him. Her hand was cold, causing him to hiss, but her grip was firm, perfect when she pulled the first stroke.

“Damn princess.” He hissed. “If you want any fun, you better go easy there.

“I want you.” She tugged his hair until their lips met again and he pulled her to the edge of the counter.

“Bedroom. I want more than a fast fuck from you. I want a hell of a lot more.”

He lifted her and she wrapped her legs around him. His house wasn’t big, but it seemed to take him forever to get her to the bedroom. When he did he tossed her to the mattress and finished undressing before he tugged her jeans off her legs.

“I will try to be gentle with you, but it’s not really my nature.” He warned her.

“I don’t’ need gentle. I need you.” Her back arched when he ran his hand down her body and he stopped fighting his desire. He filled his mouth with one perfect tit and his hand with the other. He was so hard that he hurt, but he needed to take some care. He knew in his bones that it would matter later. He let his hand drift lower until he found the smooth skin covering her pussy. He loved a bare pussy and she was as smooth as silk. He growled and move to her other nipple to suckle her. She moaned and pressed against him. The scent of her need filled the room, driving him harder as he plunged a finger into her heated pussy.

She clenched around him and he added another finger. She was tight, but she could take him easy enough.

“Want to taste you princess.” He said as he kissed his way down her belly and over her smooth, bare pussy.

He pushed her legs wide and ran his tongue over her, gathering the sweet juices that coated her.

  “River… what…”

“Hush now Princess. I want to taste you. It will feel good. Just enjoy it.”

He could feel her tension, but when he fastened his lips around her swollen clit she trembled in ecstasy.

He suckled her as he pressed two fingers inside her. He was quickly rewarded with a pulsing orgasm that shook her whole body.

He waited for her to settle before he climbed back up her body and pressed against her. The head of his cock pressed against her and he could still feel her clenching as he pressed just the tip inside her.

Her legs squeezed his hips as he looked into her eyes.

“Are you sure?” He held still until she nodded.

“I’m sure. I want you. I want this.” Her hands dropped to his ass and he felt the bite of her short nails as she urged him deeper.

He didn’t fight her. He pressed into her slowly and watched as her eyes clouded with pleasure. Her hands slid up his back and he lost his mind. His hips moved slowly, but he knew he couldn’t keep up the slow pace for long. she buried her hands in his hair and pulled him down for a kiss and when her teeth sank into his lip, he lost his mind.

River pounded into her. She was perfect, squeezing him like a fist as he slid in and out of her. He lifted up on straight arms so he could watch her and was rewarded with the sight of her perfect tits bouncing along with his rhythm. Her eyes were open and watching him and when he looked into them he was trapped, connected, changed.

Her pussy locked down around his cock and she panted his name. His teeth found her neck and he bit down until he tasted blood and filled her with his seed.

There were no words as he lay in the darkness with his mate curled against his chest. There were no words to describe the feeling of peace and joy she’d brought to him nor the feelings of despair and desolation he felt at knowing he would have such a short time with her.

He just held her, feeling the warmth of her skin against him, smelling the scent that was only her and trying not to hate everything for not giving him more time.

  “How about Delores?”

She looked up at river and raised one brow. “How about no.”

  “Megan?”

She shook her head. “Doesn’t feel right.”

They sat at a little table in a bakery in the tiny town of Wolf Pack Indiana and looked through a book of baby names he had picked up at the super market. He’d insisted she tag along to get food she liked and a few clothes.

It was the best day of her whole life.

That fact embarrassed her and made her a little sad. How could a day buying groceries and shopping at a local discount store be the best day of her life, but it was. He let her buy whatever she wanted with only a few suggestions.

“I will find a way to pay you back for all of this.” She insisted.

He’d shrugged. “I’m not worried about it.”

“I’d like to. I’d like to feel like I’m useful. I’d like to have a skill.”

“Gotta have a name first Princess. Then we will see about teaching you some things. You don’t owe me shit, but I get what you’re saying.”

She couldn’t fight the grin on her face if she’d been trying. He did understand. He had lived a rough life too and he would understand the need to feel useful.

“Thank you, River. Thank you for understanding.”

He tugged her into his lap and took her mouth. He didn’t care who saw them. He kissed her like she was the only person in the room.

“I do understand Princess, but don’t ever think you aren’t worth something on your own. You are, to me you are worth a hell of a lot.”

She blushed. She felt the heat in her cheeks and wanted to crawl in a hole. How many grown women blushed? She was sure the women River was used to didn’t blush at a simple compliment, but she couldn’t help it.

He stopped her thoughts with another kiss, but stiffened and tightened his arms around her.

“What’s the matter?” She whispered, but his eyes were glued to a man who stood across the street watching them. She’d never seen him before, but she could feel the evil in him even from a distance.

“River?” She whispered, but he wouldn’t look at her.

“It’s fine. Are you finished with your lunch? We need to head on back.”

“I’m done.” She cleaned up their table and still he didn’t take his eyes off the man who stood across the street.

He led her out to his truck. Snow was falling and he’d refused to take his bike saying he didn’t want her to get cold. She was glad for it now. The truck provided some protection from the man who watched them.

“Stay here.” River locked the doors and jogged across the street. She couldn’t hear their words, but the exchange was heated and when River came back, he smelled so angry that she had to crack her window to get a breath of air.

“I’m sorry. You are safe. Just shit… I’ve got shit too. That is a big part of my shit.”

His knuckles were white on the steering wheel. She reached over and placed her hand on this rock-hard thigh and felt the muscles relax slowly.

“If you ever see him, call me. Get away from him and call me. That man is dangerous.”

  “I promise.” She whispered.

His arm snaked out and pulled her close. His kiss was demanding, claiming as he took her lips and she loved it. She loved belonging to him because it was her choice. Something deep within her chose him as her own and she didn’t question it.

His hand found her breast and she moaned against his lips. They were fire and he scorched her in ways she’d never dreamed possible, but there was still so much they didn’t know about one another, so much to learn...so many what ifs.

He pulled her hand to his lap and pressed it against the errection his jeans held captive.

  “Need you bad princess.”

“I need you too River.” She panted. She was soaked and her clit was throbbing painfully.

“Two minutes.” He growled and slammed the truck into reverse.

He sped out of town as she kissed his neck, dragging her teeth along the tight muscles.

He slowed at an old gravel road and cursed when he saw another truck parked in the road.

She unbuckled his belt and released his cock from his jeans and was rewarded with a moan from him when she squeezed him. She had little experience with men other than the suffering she’d endured, but she had learned a few things. She lowered her lips to the mushroomed head of his cock and took him into her mouth. He tasted salty and musky and all man. She ran her tongue over him and felt her own body pulse when he fisted her hair in his hand and urged her to take more of him.

She opened her mouth and took as much of him as she could, using her tongue to massage the hardened flesh. His hips jumped when she suckled him and eased back only to take him in again.

She lost herself in pleasuring him and jumped in surprise when he tugged her away from him when he rolled to a stop on a deserted stretch of road. He flung open his door and stepped out, bringing her with him. He shoved her pants to her knees and bent her over, pressing her hands to the truck seat. Then he was there, pressing his cock into her, burning her, stretching tender flesh and she loved it. This was no gentle coupling, but she didn’t need that, she need to feel his desire, his want for her. She needed him to crave her.

He pounded into her and she felt her body explode around him a moment before he filled her with his warm release. It wasn’t sweet and it wasn’t gentle, but it was what they needed.

When he was finished he pulled her to stand, still buried inside her. He pulled her hand with his down between her legs to feel them connected. It was erotic, there was no other word for it.

“I need this. I need this connection.” He left her hand between her legs and ran his up to her chest under her shirt. “And this one.” His warm heart covered her heart.

“Stay with me.” His warm breath fanned across her ear.

It was all she had ever wanted. He wanted her and she craved him in ways she’d never expected to need a man.

“There is nowhere I’d rather be River. You feel like home to me.”

She felt the rumble of his wolf at her back and felt the strange vibration in her own chest.

He pulled out of her and she felt the trickle of warmth dribble down her thighs, but he didn’t’ let her wipe it away.

“That is hot as fuck Princess.” He pressed his hand against her back until she bent over, giving him, a better view of his seed running out of her.

“Fuck. I can’t get enough of you.” He shook his head in confusion and handed her a handful of fast-food napkins from the dash.

She felt strange cleaning herself up while he watched, but he refused to look away and she wanted to go home.

It only took them a few more minutes to pull up outside his cabin and a few more before he had the groceries unloaded, the cold stuff in the refrigerator and her on her bent over the kitchen counter.

Life had certainly made a turn for the better.

River sat at the long oaken table in the back room of the Full Moon Saloon and looked at the men around him. The woman slept in his bed. Shauna and Mallory were with her along with a couple of prospects for security. Shauna had brought along Dakota and Mallory had Sam and he hoped that the women and children would help comfort the woman. She seemed so lonely, so lost. Mallory and Shauna would make sure she knew she had friends and nobody could feel lonely around the boys.

He let out a breath. He wanted her to see club life as a good thing and he knew he was trying too hard, but damn it, he needed her to be happy. He needed her to want to stay.

Dice grinned like a lunatic and leaned back in his chair. “Guess you found a reason, huh?”

River frowned over at the man who had been more than a brother for longer than he could remember. “What the fuck are you talking about?”

“Mate will do that shit to you.” Dice nodded and looked across the table to where Ricky was also doing a shitty job of hiding a grin.

“Have I made a claim I don’t remember?” River scowled, but his look didn’t have the desired outcome… Dice just threw his head back and laughed. He knew he wasn’t fooling anybody and he wasn’t ashamed of his claim on the woman, but he wanted to be sure how she felt first.

“So… when are you going to Lost Lakes?” Dice asked innocently.

“Tomorrow.” River grumbled. He knew he couldn’t’ put it off. Driskell had come lurking around and he’d made it clear that his offer wasn’t going to be good for long.

“Pay up suckers!!” Dice howled and the others around the table cursed and tossed money his way. “I’m so getting laid when I show Mal all this pretty green. She loves green.”

River ignored him. Their houses were close enough to each other that he knew Dice got laid on a regular basis and for little reason.

“Can we get on with business?” Books huffed, his wallet fifty dollars lighter.

“Yeah. This woman, she’s different.” He ignored the snort from Dice. “She feels powerful and she’s being hunted.”

He looked to Books and nodded.

“Benjamin Rockton… her husband… He may not actually be her husband, but that’s what she told Riv. He’s been known to associate with Happy. That means trouble for us. He’s got money Riv, big money and he has connections with some very nasty people. If he finds out we helped her escape, it will rain nasty shit down on our heads for a very long time.”

River nodded and tried to hide the anger he was feeling. “Does he have a wife listed anywhere? Is there anything he can claim legally?”

Books shook his head. “There is nothing on file anywhere about him being married. I have found pictures of them together. He called her Dara. He claims her as his mistress.”

River nodded. “She said he called her something that wasn’t her name. What do you think he used her for? She said she was valuable.”

“I think finding out what the hell she is will help with that.” Books answered. “How does she not know her own name?”

“Could ask Lucian.” Dice allowed. “He will be out day after tomorrow to give you boys a shot. He’s will probably know when he sees her.”

“He’s a scary son of a bitch.” Ricky put in. “If she’d jumpy that could be bad for her.”

“I’ll stay with her. Maybe get Sam over too. Hell, make it a pack thing, cook out, drink some beer.” River threw in.

“That sounds like a plan!” Pie piped in. Pie loved a good party.

“Limit the pussy Pie. Family night.” River insisted.

Pie laughed, but there was a sadness to it. “Family night, yeah. All one big happy family. For some of us.”

Clothesline smacked him in the chest. “You got a problem with the family you got brother?”

Pie grinned. “Yeah. You are too fucking needy.” He shoved Clothesline hard enough for a snarl to rip from his ruined throat.

“My wolf is going to eat you one of these days.” Line shook his head to quiet his wolf and let out a raspy chuckle.

“I could use a good fight.” Pie lifted his lip. “You’ve gone soft since you’ve been spending time at the hospital. As good as mated yourself.”

Clothesline cut his eyes toward Pie and they flashed an inhuman color. “Leave it alone.” He snarled.
